The Call of Casting On
Yesterday, I had such a strong urge to cast on a new project. Specifically, a linen top. I've never knitted with linen before, but a linen top had been my "next project" since March, when I suddenly got distracted and cast on for the All of the Lights cardigan. I've cast on a few new projects since ten, but yesterday I found myself going back to reading articles about the joys of linen yarn, and thinking again about linen tops that I could knit.
I had just about talked myself out of going out and buying new yarn and needles to cast on for the project, figuring that I could satisfy myself by just talking to my friend about how much I wanted to knit a new thing instead. She would talk me out if it, and I would continue knitting one of my current projects!
Instead, what happened when I talked to my friend, was that she asked if I would be going by the yarn shop any time soon, to pick up some supplies for her. Just like that, my brain went to thinking that I could drop by the store, pick up her supplies, and pick up some new things for myself as well! It took all my willpower to say that I would go by the store later in the week, just to keep myself from buying new things before finishing my current projects.
Last night, Past Renee won that battle. Now Future Renee just needs to win again, when she actually goes into the store...
Wish me luck!
