Stepping into Steeking

Have you ever cut your knitting? I haven't. It is a Scary Thought.

I'm still determined to try out new things with my knitting though, and my latest experiment is going to be Steeking. This is the process of knitting a piece in the round, reinforcing stitches along two columns, and then cutting between the reinforced stitches, to create a flat piece. I cast on a small swatch to test steeking a couple of days ago, and I have now secured a crochet hook, with which I will reinforce the stitches. I've definitely noticed myself slowing down on this swatch though, as if my hands are trying to prevent me from actually snipping into my yarn… Must be just my imagination…

Anyway

Stay tuned for exciting news and pictures of me snipping my yarn simultaneously into lots of little pieces yet hopefully still one single piece!
