SABLE

Yarn deliveries are a delight, and yarn clubs are my personal weakness. Right up until it got discontinued, I was part of a monthly sock yarn club that delivered unique colourways in scrumptious 100g skeins of Merino/Nylon fingering yarn. They were so versatile! And so beautiful! And always so incredibly squishy! And even though the club ended well over a year ago, I still have some of that yarn in my stash, just waiting for that perfect project to come along.

This leads me to one of my favourite acronyms: SABLE - Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy. I’ve seen this acronym floating around in online knitting-related groups, and especially related to posts about yarn festivals. I am a fan of Stash Acquisition, but it’s the Beyond Life Expectancy part that really gets to me… I don’t really know how much knitting time I have ahead of me, and I think I’d get more joy from knitting the yarn that I have, rather than acquiring more. I’m moving towards only buying yarn when I have a specific project in mind for it, as well as searching through my stash when looking for inspiration for my next project, rather than just mindlessly going out to buy more yarn whenever the mood strikes. That’s not to say that I won’t walk past a shop one day and need a special one-of-a-kind skein at some point, but for now, I’m aiming for Sane more than Sable.

Wish me luck!!
