Hobbies While Knitting
I love to multitask. I think it comes with the territory, as a knitter. If I'm sitting around chatting with people, I love to take out my knitting. If I'm in a waiting room for some sort of an appointment, I want to have my knitting with me. Travelling on a plane, or a train, I want to knit. So it makes sense that when I'm just chilling with my (non-knitting) hobbies, I want to still be knitting, too!
There are some hobbies where this works just fine. I can happily knit while playing board games, watching TV shows, listening to audio-books, even watching live comedy (as long as I have simple projects). However, there are some things in life that just don't mesh well with knitting.
It's really hard to simultaneously knit and cook. And the fear of food stains really doesn't help
It's also very difficult to knit while rock-climbing, or playing the piano, or playing computer games. Even less active things, like reading, are actually very difficult to do while knitting. Sometimes, I just can't do everything at once, which is sad.
I guess this is why I don't read many books, play much piano, or play any computer games anymore...
